PM Modi visited the Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple in Madurai for the very first time, offering prayers at the ancient shrine. Following this, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 4,400 crore in Madurai.
The projects cover key sectors including roads, railways, health, and urban development, aimed at transforming the city's infrastructure landscape.

In Puducherry, PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 2,700 crore. Addressing a large gathering, he said the government has set aside a record Rs 12 lakh crore for building infrastructure across the country this year.
PM Modi also attacked the Congress and DMK parties during his speech, accusing them of failing to deliver development in Tamil Nadu and the region for decades.
NDA Election Campaign
PM Modi also attended an NDA public meeting in Madurai as part of the alliance's election campaign in Tamil Nadu. Security was heightened across the city ahead of the high-profile visit. The meeting saw massive attendance from NDA supporters and local leaders.
Micron Semiconductor Facility Inaugurated
In another major development, PM Modi inaugurated Micron Technology's Semiconductor ATMP facility in Sanand, Gujarat. This is a landmark moment for India's semiconductor industry and a key step in India's push to become a global chip manufacturing hub.
What This Means for South India
These projects are expected to generate thousands of jobs and significantly improve infrastructure in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Political analysts say the visit is also part of BJP's strategy to strengthen its presence in South India ahead of upcoming assembly elections.
