The US-Israel war against Iran has entered its fifth devastating day today with no ceasefire in sight. The death toll continues to rise dramatically as Israel launches its 10th wave of attacks on Tehran while Iran retaliates with massive strikes across the entire Middle East region.
Death Toll — 1,097 Dead Including 168 Children
More than 1,000 people have been killed in Iran since the US and Israel launched strikes on the country. Among the dead are 168 children and 14 teachers who were killed in a US-Israeli attack on a girls' elementary school on Saturday. The White House did not rule out that US military personnel carried out the school strike. The international community has expressed outrage over civilian casualties.
Israel Launches 10th Wave of Attacks
Israel's military said it had begun a broad wave of strikes in Tehran. The strikes targeted internal security command centers in Tehran, as well as missile launchers and other systems.
The death toll from the US-Israeli attacks now stands at 1,045, with multiple locations across Iran being bombarded. Explosions were heard in different parts of the Iranian capital, and Iranian state television showed the rubble of a building in central Tehran. The holy city of Qom and several other cities were also targeted.
US Senate Rejects War Powers Vote
In a major political development in Washington, Republicans rejected a resolution aimed at requiring President Donald Trump to seek congressional approval for future US military action against Iran. The Senate voted 47 to 53 to put down the measure, with GOP Senator Rand Paul joining almost all Democrats to advance it. This means President Trump can continue military operations against Iran without congressional approval.
Iran Hits Back — 27 US Bases Attacked
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says it has launched attacks on 27 bases in the Middle East where US troops are deployed, as well as Israeli military facilities in Tel Aviv and other parts of Israel. Iranian missiles targeted the headquarters of the US Navy's 5th Fleet in Bahrain's Juffair area multiple times. Bahrain's Ministry of Interior confirmed that the country's international airport was targeted with a drone.
Strait of Hormuz — No Timeline for Reopening
The White House would not provide a timeline for when the Strait of Hormuz will be safe for oil tankers. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said both the Department of War and the Department of Energy are actively monitoring the situation. She said if and when necessary, the United States Navy will provide assistance to escort oil tankers through the Strait. About 20% of the world's oil passes through this critical waterway.
9,000 Americans Evacuated from Middle East
Secretary of State Rubio said the State Department has been helping Americans evacuate from the Middle East for the last 72 hours, using military, commercial and chartered flights, with 9,000 Americans having already left the region.
Impact on India
India is closely watching the rapidly escalating situation. With the Strait of Hormuz closed and oil prices surging, India's economy faces significant pressure. The Indian government has urged all Indian nationals in the Gulf region to register with the nearest Indian Embassy immediately and follow all safety guidelines strictly.
What Happens Next?
President Trump said the war could last four to five weeks, but could go longer. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Fox News it would not lead to an endless war. The United Nations Security Council continues emergency sessions but no ceasefire agreement has been reached. The world watches anxiously as this conflict continues to escalate with no end in sight.
